Well Pops..... TO BAD FOR YOU!! Turning 60 wow you gotta feel that right? Luckily my family was blessed to look way younger than they are. I dare any carny to guess grandmas age! They never would. So my old man turned sixty. Remember when you used to think 60 was for walkers, dentures and foot cream? Not now, sixty is looking just fine from where I'm sitting. My dad could kick any of your dads butts. (well after he puts on his sore-no-more cream). Plays wally ball with the young-un's weekly (and kicks their hiney) Four wheeling, snow shoeing, kayaking, RV driving, bi-focal wearing... wait I'm getting off track. You don't keep a Petersen down for long, we may look soft, but so does a bear. My 82 yr old grandma tried to give me the smack down just last weekend. No joke, I saw fire in her eyes. And she passed that on to her son. Dad I'll always look up to you, even when you start to shrink from old agedness.
We thought about throwing my dad this big old party, but it seemed like a lot of work, so we asked him what HE wanted. He said all he wanted was to play on the beach with his grandkids. So that is what we did. Packed everyone in an RV and drove till we hit the sand. Stayed in this incredible beach house (props mom for the find) played on the beach, kayaked, and all around partied. Many baths and hot tub soaks were thrown in for good measure. How great it was to be with my whole entire family sans one. (Q you were sorely missed) especially the ones who live of in the wilds of OhiosoontobeConneticut & Sacramentomaybenotforlong.
I even tried the boogie boarding in the 1 degree short of being ice water, after you turned numb it really wasnt that bad. And Pops got to have his first ever (really??) beach campfire. good times.
Some good pics were taken you can view them on Mom's blog Here ( no really check them out, they are great)
and now ode to dad..
PS- can you find the pic of Steve Martin?
