Sweetness

Unless Some Sweetness at the Bottom Lie,
Who Cares for all the Crinkling of the Pie?
William King - The Art of Cookery - 1708

Have you ever found a book that makes you want to drop everything else in your life and curl up on the couch with your favorite blakie and cup of hot cocoa? The book that makes you feel like that kid hiding in her bed with a flashlight hoping to not get caught. The book that reminds you why you love reading? Or maybe the book that hits the right spot at the exact right time? This book was that for me. From the begining line it had me.

This book was recomended to me by a total stranger, but with high regard. When I went to B&N to get it, the worker there was so excited (this was an adult male) he said he and his wife loved it, and if i liked that kind of book I should read...... he recomended several other books and we swapped favorite books for a while, he is now my favorite B&N worker. So it was with a little excitement I picked up this book. It has been said to be a combination between Eloise and Sherlock Holmes. I think there is a little Gurnesy L&PPPS in it too.

Set in England in the 50's the story is about a little 11 yr old girl who LOVES chemestry. "I still shiver with joy whenever I thought of the rainy day in Autumn when Chemistry had fallen into my life" She lives a centries old family manor with her father and two sisters. She discovers a body one night and is on a quest to solve the murder. She is fiesty, intelligent, determined and has a bike named Gladys. I wont say much more, but that I can guarentee you will not be disapointed. She will make you feel young again.
