but as I look back, I may have been a little hypocritical. Really, how do you escape it unless you read nothing but Jane Eyre or Clive Cussler. It's out there and its almost unavoidable. Enders Game has always been one of my top favorites, you don't get more SciFi than that. 90% of what I read is young adult fiction, 90% of that is fantasy. what about Fairy Tales... quite sure they are fantasy....
So now I look at my book shelves and there is no avoiding it I am a fan of the geeky books.
I just finished a book called "the Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. The cover alone would scare anyone a little Fantasy woosy
But it was given to me by a good friend, who's literary recommendations I trust, as a birthday gift with much encouragement. Now not only did it look scary, but it was NINE HUNDRED pages long. I may as well take a two week vacation to get it read. But the story line sounded intriguing, and heck Harry Potter was upwards of 900 pages at times! So in I dove. and in I stayed blissfully for about a week. It captured me the way I remember Enders Game, and Princess Bride and others that sparked my love for reading. I couldn't wait to see what happens next. the only cruelty of the book, is it is a trilogy of three days, one day per book, and book two DAY TWO does not come out till spring 2009..... how disparaging! Do not worry dear Kvothe, I will be waiting....
Kvothe is the main character....
1 props:
Maybe I'll get this book when I'm in New York next month. Thanks for the recommendation.
